The Tsinghua Alumni Association of Greater Washington, the Jade Mountain Technology Association of Greater Washington, and the Chinese American Data Science and Engineering Association (CADSEA) invite you to an insightful discussion with Dr. Lingjia Liu, a professor at Virginia Tech, on the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in next-generation (NextG) mobile networks.
The integration of AI and ML into NextG mobile networks represents a groundbreaking shift in wireless communication. While AI and ML have already revolutionized fields like image and natural language processing, their potential to transform NextG mobile networks—especially the NextG wireless air interface—requires innovations in ultra-fast real-time learning to match the speed of these networks. Dr. Liu will delve into advancements in online real-time machine learning, with a particular focus on using recurrent neural networks (RNNs) in multi-antenna (MIMO) receiver processing systems. This discussion offers a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge developments in wireless communication and highlight their practical applications in NextG networks, particularly in the wireless air interface.
Dr. Lingjia Liu is a renowned expert in wireless communication and serves as the Director of Wireless@Virginia Tech, a university-level research center, and as a Founding Professor at Virginia Tech’s Innovation Campus in the Washington, D.C., area. His research focuses on 6G network technologies. Dr. Liu’s career spans both academia and industry, including leading the 4G mobile network (3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced) standardization efforts at Samsung Research America. He has published over 100 journal papers and 100 conference papers, received more than eight Best Paper Awards, and holds over 20 granted U.S. patents. As a principal investigator, Dr. Liu has managed research projects totaling over $27 million.
